Who The Hell Are Slo Burn?

Slo Burn was the first band John Garcia (Unida & Hermano) formed after the demise of "Stoner Rock" gods Kyuss.

After Kyuss split, John Garcia was looking for a home once more to let his angelic voice soar and in 1996 after jamming with fellow desert locals Chris Hale (Guitar), Damon Garrison (bass) and Brady Houghton (Drums), Slo Burn was born.

Slo Burn certainly sprung from the same crater as Kyuss but their sound wasn't Kyuss mark 2. They were straight to the point, quick and catchy, stripped back and groovy. Whilst Garcia's voice is the same one that graced the Kyuss albums, that is about all the band share. Whilst Kyuss ripped a hole into the desert, these guys plugged their guitars into it.

Sadly the band left us as quickly as they came in 1997 after a five track demo and one singular 4 track EP named 'Amusing The Amazing'. Luckily this is a gem of a release which shall be worshipped until the dawn of time by a hidden sect of fans who crave something both heavy and beautiful.

The masses of Kyuss fans were sad to see their band go but thankfully Slo Burn filled the void nicely if only briefly.

John Garcia next went on to form Unida and is currently in Hermano and working on a solo project called Garcia vs Garcia.
